Why I'm Going On An Elimination Diet (and what it is)

Lately I haven't been feeling 100% after my meals or in general. I've been bloated, gassy, sluggish and dealing with crazy brain fog. 

Sounds fun, right?

I also haven't been recovering the same after workouts and actually feel slower which sucks considering I have some running goals this year.   

TBH I have been eating more processed foods, ordering out more, and snacking a little too much. But even before that I wasn't feeling as good as I should have. 

I've decided to go on a 21 day elimination diet, same as what I help my clients do. What is an elimination diet?   Essentially you just eliminate certain foods for a period of time (I recommend at least 21 days) then slowly reintroduce specific foods and monitor your symptoms for possible reactions.  

Common foods to eliminate are dairy, soy, corn, and gluten. It's also good to eliminate any food that you eat frequently. Constant exposure can lead to sensitivity.

Since I already don't do dairy I will be cutting out gluten, soy, and corn. Also getting the boot is my seltzer water habit. Seltzer (or any carbonated drink) can cause major bloat.

Since the upcoming week is pretty travel packed (going to Florida then to Philly for the Good Fest!) I'm going to start the following Monday (April 24). This doesn't mean I'm going to go crazy and eat my weight in bread and tofu until then. I'm going to eat healthy and clean-ish while I'm traveling....Plus my mom is excited over the vegan carrot cake she's getting for Christian and I. Haha. It would bum her out so hard if I showed up and wouldn't eat it!
